Room 502/4/6, Thursday night

After waking up in jail, then spending seven or so hours in a car arguing with Jamie about music, Nadia was feeling more than ready to be back. Or in Florida, but assuming Layla Miller was right, doing that would be a biiiiiiiig mistake.

She fell over on her bed and was immediately pounced on by an irate kitty . . . who forgot his anger as soon as he saw the giant baby blue faux fur muff, which he climbed right into and fell asleep in.

The note on Walter's bed had her frowning, but then again, she hadn't done much better with Jamie's note. Still, probably a good idea to at least leave him another voicemail.

Pippi walked into the room drying her hair.

"Hey."

"Hey." Nadia looked up from where she was watching Furrball sleep. "How was your trip?"

Pippi gave some serious thought on how to answer that.

"Well... The last bit was very good. Up to late last night was actually pretty horrible... I hope your trip went better." She said motioning to the note Nadia and Jamie left. Or motioning to the place where it was if it's been taken down.

"Got halfway there, then arrested for blowing up a giant sombrero, then busted out by some girl who 'knows stuff', who told me I had to come back." Nadia looked at Pippi, obviously concerned. "What was so bad on yours?"

"Well... The potion worked a little too well. I shoulda waited for Pip to get there to try one. That was my plan, but I was excited. And I couldn't move... Which wouldn't be so bad... But I had a visitor."

Pippi's voice hitches a bit when she says 'visitor'.

"Madre del dios," She'd had a feeling the potion thing was a bad idea. "Who? What happened? You're okay, right?"

"We're both fine now... You remember the guy from Ikea I'm sure."

Nadia's jaw tightened hard, and Furrball let out a yawlp as her hand closed around his back paw. She quickly let go. ". . . How did you get away?"

Pippi told Nadia about what happened once they'd both been dumped in the trunk (http://strongestgirl.livejournal.com/92616.html).

Towards the end she sniffed and rubbed her eyes for no reason at all kthnx.

"...and we were staying near the beach so I brought some gillyweed so he ate that. Then, he shot out the lock instead of pulling the little handle to open the trunk on the inside." she said laughing a little at the last bit.

Furrball had decided to abandon the big blue muff and hide under the bed, which was good because Nadia had clenched it into the smallest blue muff she possibly good through out the story.

And she really wanted to know where any of those other pills were, so she could destroy them.

It's not like she was hiding them per sae. They're in her bedside table, away from light and prying monkey hands.

Pippi nodded. "Thanks. When I got the antidote, which is actually just a strengthening potion, and when I took it... I was normal. Not like normal for me, but normal normal... It all wore off a few hours ago, it was..."

She shook her head.

"It was amazing. But I shouldn't mess around with the way God made me like that very much... It'll be a while before I try it again... Why did you blow up a Mexican hat?"

". . . it was ugly, and we'd had a lot of tequila." Nadia let go of the muff and it *poofed* back into big fluffy muff shape. She was thinking. ". . . there, um, might be another way to deal with the strength thing, you know. . . . If you'd want to listen."

Ever since the potions wore off, Pippi had been thinking it would be a very long time before she'd consider trying something like that again.

But...

"Sure. What were you thinking?"

"Well . . ." Nadia smooshed the muff again, not looking up at Pippi. "With the dreaming thing, for me. Duck--the spirit guide guy--there was this whole metaphor. With doors, not the one with the river. About how I had opened the door too wide and had to figure out how to close it off some, put up a barrier between me and the dreams. Maybe you have something like that. A door that lets the strength in, and if you learned how to open it and close it, you could be as strong as you needed to be when you needed to."

"... Oooh." Pippi said thoughtfully. "I could turn it on and off... Like Molly."

"Um, kind of. And it wouldn't be, like, quick. It takes time to find the door and to move it and everything . . . and it might not even work, since I don't know if your strength works the same way my dreams do . . . there might be side-effects . . . but it has to be better than some pills or a big box or whatever. More natural, at least."

"Yeah, you're right... But, I don't know how to find those doors."

". . . I might be able to help. Or, I mean, Blair, but I don't think Blair has had to open and shut any power-doors."

The last time Pippi had meditated with Blair, wow... a little over a year ago, it hadn't gone well.

Besides which, Pippi thinks she might currently be angry with Blair about him dumping River. She isn't sure actually.

"No, I'd like to try it with you... If that's okay."

"Fine with me. Just . . . you have to listen, if we do. The first couple of times I did it, I had some trouble and it can be kinda dangerous, but I know what I'm talking about . . . about it." She was treading on dangerous ground, she knew. "So you have to really listen. Um."

Pippi looked at Nadia and nodded earnestly.

"Okay."

"Well . . . whenever you want to do it."

"Soon, but... I should probably take some time to... Recover."

Pippi rarely thought about recovering from anything, but the last day and a half was something of a roller coaster.

Nadia nodded. She knew that feeling only too well. "Well. Let me know." She nodded to Walter's bed. "Do you know where Walter went?"

Pippi nodded to Mr. Neilson who was lounging in his little red dolly bed on her desk.

"Sir Neilson said he saw Walter take Pup and a bunch of stuff off into the preserve this afternoon. And some of the camping gear is missing."

Nadia's eyebrow went up, and she glanced at the window.

Hadn't they, just a few days ago, agreed that Walter wasn't likely to go out into the preserve alone at this time of year? At the very least, she'd think he would tell someone.

Damn. He must be mad.

"Huh. Hope he's having fun."
