Nadia was spending a thrilling Saturday night on her bed, with Furrball attacking her feet, her guitar propped in her lap as she worked on "Thinking isn't Emo".

No emo on the roof was what you'd said to me,
But I think you're mistaken here, it isn't what you see,
Just because I'm on the roof, and just because I'm quiet,
That doesn't mean I'm sad or nothing, put a word here that rhymes with quiet. . . .

Thrilling. Seriously.

As though she didn't give him more than enough reason.

"Right." He had a bite of hash and chewed slowly. "But you have to admit that our evening wasn't boring after we played Twistja."

Nadia smiled. "It certainly wasn't. I'm tempted to say that we should find a time when we don't have class the next morning, pack up some gear, and try it again."

"I'd be up for giving that a try. It's like free travel. At least one way."

"And then an adventure in getting back."

"With the four of us, I'm not worried about our ability to face just about any challenge." He grinned and poked her gently. "We could consider it a double date."

"I have no doubt we could talk Pip and Pippi into this."

"It sounds like a plan for a weekend when we're all available. I like it."

"Me, too. But what, dear sir, should we do tomorrow?"

"Croquet," he answered without thinking about it. "Using the stairs and several floors of the dorms."

Nadia, who had barely even looked at a croquet set, laughed. "Sounds good. I'm not sure how that will work, but it sounds like fun."

"I'm not sure, either, but I didn't think you'd want to play outside, so we'll have to make things up as we go along."

"Ugh, definitely not." Nadia set her plate aside and snuggled up to Walter as best she could, with a cat on her feet. "Winter will end soon, right?"

Walter put his plate out of the way and wrapped his arms around her. "Yes. It will end and you'll be able to make most of the boys and more than a few of the girls very happy by wearing next to nothing."

"That's my entire reason for being," Nadia said brightly. "We should plan a day when I can make you happy by wearing nothing at all for awhile."

"Mmm..." Walter brushed her hair aside and kissed her neck. "That sounds brilliant. Of course, now 507 is available for evenings or afternoons or whenever."

Oops. He'd sort of forgotten to mention Cafe Fina, hadn't he? "So... Did I mention that I'll be going back to work at Cafe Fina?"

Nadia was loving the idea of using 507 in such a way. "Maybe after croquet. And that's great. What's the new owner like?"

"After croquet sounds like a date." Walter was rather loving the idea as well.

"The new owner is... a candle? A candlestick? Both? He's human sized, but he has lit candles instead of hands. And on his head, too."

"That . . . is kind of weird even for Fandom. I guess he needs the help."

"Things have definitely changed there. Everything there seems alive. I'm really not sure how to deal with plates that can walk themselves to the table."

"Has the kitchen staff changed?"

"Yes. I had a peek in the kitchen and it's much like the front of the restaurant. The pots and pans are doing the cooking. Lumiere kept complaining about the dish running away with the spoon, too."

"Weeeeeeeeeird. What . . . are you going to do there, then?"

"Running things when I'm there, I think. Working as maitre d'. I suppose you can't count on the pots and pans to run everything themselves."

"I guess not. That's really weird, though. When do you start?"

"Uh... Wednesday," Walter admitted with a wince. "But I told him I couldn't come in for long because I had plans with my girlfriend, and he said he understood."
