Room 507 (or at least, the hallway just outside it), Saturday night

"Here we go," Nadia said to Brian!Walter as they got to the door. "We'll have to see if my roommate is around, though."

She dug into her pocket for her key.

Then she dug into the other pocket.

Then she started patting herself down.

"Oh caray," she muttered, then turned back to Brian. "Do you have a hair pin?"

Brian reached under his pink wig and withdrew a hair pin.

"You really know how to use that?" he asked, handing it to her.

"I really do. For hair, and for this." She gave the pin a long glance, then reached into her back pocket for her multi-tool, which she used first to strip the extra plastic off the ends of the pin, then to bend it open and one end up, and finally, with the screwdriver attachment, used it as a tension wrench as she worked the hairpin into the lock.

Within moments, the door was swinging open and Furrball was mewling at them.

"There we go. Come on in."

Brian was impressed and trying not to look it. Not bad at all.

He followed her in and grinned and the blue kitty. "A glam cat! That's fantastic."

Nadia had to laugh at that one, while Furrball wandered up to sniff at Brian's ankles.

"See, I told you I knew glam,"

Brian had to give the glam cat some attention, kneeling carefully so as not to get too much blue hair on his clothes.

"You don't live it, though," he said to Nadia. "It's more than just playing dress-up. That's just a masquerade, not glam."

Nadia considered this. "If you'd have known me longer, you'd know that a lot of my life is a masquerade." She opened her closet and started pulling out her wigs. She'd gathered together quite a collection. "There's nothing wrong with playing dress up, every now and then."

Brian went to have a look at Nadia's wigs and was disappointed that the majority of them came in colors that would grow on a human head.

"What are you hiding, then?"

She did have a delightful, Betty Paige cut blue one, though, as well as a few with more punk styled streaks.

"Oh, one thing or another."

In fact, most of her accessories and things that weren't what Brian would call "horrifically normal" were punk, not glam. She did have some glittery nail polish, though.

"What would I have to hide? My life happens where everyone can watch." Except things in his heart, and those he wasn't going to share with anyone. He hadn't found the right person yet.

"I find that the people who stand out the most in any given crowd usually have the most to hide." Nadia shrugged. "You don't have to tell me, though. It's not like I'm going to tell you what I'm hiding, either." She was sifting through a box of various make up, the stuff she kept on hand for practicing disguise work, and, well, just in case. "Ah!" she pulled out a tube of shimmery green lip rouge. "Try that."

Brian took the green tube and smirked before looking around for a mirror to start applying it.

"I thought you were going to suggest something else." Something a little more boring, like her standard look. Sure, she was pretty, but there was nothing wrong with gilding the lily.

"And then you were going to roll your eyes at me and tell me I wasn't 'glam' as though that made me somehow less of a person. Thanks, but I've had about enough of that." She stuck her head back into her closet, this time pulling out a sheer, ruffled black top. "You want to try that one on, or should I?"

Brian was not gay, he was most comfortably bi, and more than happy to see the pretty girl in that almost a top.

"I'm already ahead of you on clothes. You should put that on."

Nadia shrugged and started pulling off her shirt and bra without bothering to turn her back. "I know I have something shinier in there, somewhere, but I suppose we have to start somewhere, right?"

She also had a camera, which was tucked into the pocket of her jeans. There was no way she was not recording this for posterity.

Okay, he was starting to like her more.

"One of these wigs will do," Brian said, pulling up the blue Betty Page one and brushing it out.

"You'll look good enough to take out to the clubs." Or stay in.

"And which clubs would those be?" Shirt pulled on, purple eyeshadow pulled out, and she paused to give him a look. "I told you, you're in 2007 now. Would you go to a club in your time dressed in something out of the 1940s?"

"Maybe the 1840s," Brian allowed, nodding his approval of her makeup. "I didn't see that this little town had many when I was handwavily looking around earlier." Stupid small towns.

"Well, we'll just have to make our own fun, then. I've got some tequila and some rum, and there's nothing we have to do tomorrow."

"Where are they?" Brian was sure he hadn't had enough champagne when there was other alcohol to consume.

"And what else do you have?" he asked, getting up to poke around with her. "Scarves? How about shoes?"

Back into and then out of the closet, and this time, Nadia held a bottle in one fist and a pair of silver wedge heels in the other. She held the bottle out to Brian. "Rum. Shoes. And of course I have scarves. You always quiz your dates like this?"

"Of course." Brian took the bottle from her and made a put them on motion toward the shoes. "How else am I going to know what you have?"

Nadia rolled her eyes good naturedly and put on the shoes. "A point, I guess. Now, am I putting on a show for you, or are you going to do anything more than put on a little bit of lipstick?" She gestured to the camera. "Show me how it's done?"

"Wait, wait." He looked around for something to pour the rum into and not seeing it, took a swig from the bottle before handing it back to her and running out of the room to retrieve what he'd been working on in the common room earlier that day. Fortunately, it was still there.

Nadia took her own swig of the bottle, then brought up the camera.

"It's very . . . green. Goes with the lipstick."

Brian posed for the picture without hesitation. "I like it. I gave a press conference wearing something like this. Everyone wanting to know about my sex life. So I told them."

He held out his hand for something, maybe the bottle, maybe the camera. "My turn."
