Room 507, Wednesday evening

Nadia had the four CDs she'd gotten today playing on shuffle, and was bouncing and dancing around her dorm room to them.

She hadn't done something as stupid as shoplifting in forever. And it had felt good. Never mind that Chad wasn't terribly hard to distract. Never mind that it was at Empire, where she was pretty sure that she wouldn't have to worry about too many repercussions if she had gotten caught.

She was still riding the high and having a glorious time of it.

The door was open, but Furrball was too busy hiding under her bed and staring at her like she was an idiot to plot an escape.

Cally was on her way back from the Devil's Nest when she passed by Nadia's door.

"You... buh?"

"We are young!" Nadia belted. "Heartache to heartache, we STAND! No promises, no demands!" She turned and spotted Cally, jumping. "Hi Cally!"

"Hi," Cally said. "Did you... why so happy?"

". . . is a battlefield," she sang idly with the song before grinning at Cally. "What, I'm not allowed to be happy?"

"Yes. It's against the rules." Cally stuck out her tongue. "Just wondering why. It's kinda not your default setting."

Nadia stuck her tongue out back and leaned against her desk. "Well, I've just had a good day. And maybe it is my default setting, and I just haven't been running on default, lately."

"What made today so good?" Cally said, stepping into the room.

"Yeesh, Spanish Inquisition over here. I got some new CDs, if you must know."

"Oh, saaaaw-reee for being curious," Cally said. "I sold booze today, so it was good too. Wasn't really spaz dancing happy, though."

"I do not dance like a spaz. I dance like a pretty butterfly."

"Which has just had a wee bit too much nectar," Cally teased.

Nadia did a bit of hip wiggle and bounced. "No such thing."

Cally thought for a second after ogling the hip wiggle. "You know what, you're probably right."

And then she started dancing like a spaz too.

"Yay!" Nadia added some twirls to the dance. "We are young! Heartache to heartache, we stand! No promises, no demands! Both of us knowing . . ."

The music afforded her a brief pause to strike a power pose.

"LOVE IS A BATTLEFIELD!"

Cally totally didn't know the lyrics, so just sort of danced with Nadia in a silly, flaily, spinny manner.

"It is?"

"Well, duh," Nadia started bouncing and singing around Cally, reaching out to spin her around. "We are strong, no one can tell us were wrong, Searchin our hearts for so long, both of us knowing. Love is a battlefield!"

"But it's not like it has a Jenova convention," Cally said, happily let herself be spun around. "Or does it?"

"I don't know. What's a Jenova convention?"

"That thing that the UN enforces about being fair during wars?" Cally said.

"Oh! Geneva. Like the city. And the war of love is not governed by the UN."

"Good, cause it's prolly none of their business," Cally said with a nod.

"Also, while it does horrible things to hearts, it generally doesn't kill millions of people or destroy cities."

"...okay, getting too serious. Less serious, more dancing!" Cally said.

"And now you're the mood nazi!" Still, Nadia did continue to dance. "You're so demanding!"
