Room 507, Christmas Eve

Nadia had lights strung up on the wall over her bed, and a row of candles lit on her dresser. Those were the only lights in her room as she curled up in her blanket and listened to quiet, Spanish folk music.

It made for a cozy evening.

Walter had a pair of small packages balanced in his free hand when when he knocked on Nadia's door.

"It's Walter."

Nadia sat up from where she'd been lying down, watching the flames. "Come in!"

Walter pushed the door open and looked around for signs of the roommate (whom he didn't really expect to see) and the cat (whom he wasn't quite as sure about.)

"Happy Christmas," he said, setting the packages down on her desk.

Furrball gave him a brief hairy eyeball from where he was curled up next to Nadia, then jumped down and went over to curl up on Jamie's bed instead, facing away from them.

"Feliz Navidad!" Nadia grinned and held open one side of her blanket. "Come on, sit down."

Well, the cat had told him, hadn't he?

Walter slid under the blanket, his hand going to her hip when he leaned over to give her a kiss.

"Shall we sing Christmas carols now?" he asked with a grin.

"Only if you don't mind me not knowing the words," Nadia smiled, not moving her head away from his for the time being. "What do you usually do on Christmas?" In all honesty, Nadia had had one traditional Christmas in the last six years, and she wasn't sure last year counted, since it was technically right now.

"At Hellsing, mostly I make sure things are in order for everyone else. The decorations and the food and all." He hadn't really had a traditional Christmas since losing his parents.

"I'll show you a Christmas cracker later," he said, adding, "not dirty."

"Wanna show me a dirty one, too?" Nadia grinned, before bouncing slightly on the mattress. "Sooooo, want your present?"

Walter was a little stuck on the idea of the other sort of Christmas cracker, so it took him a moment to nod. "Of course."

Nadia leaned over for a quick kiss, then forward to reach just under her bed and pull out a largish package. If he looked inside that present when he opened it, he'd find two more smaller packages.

Walter smiled when he pulled out the laptop case, and smiled even more at the cufflinks and pocket watch. He immediately started to pop the buttons out of his cuffs to replace them with the cufflinks, then held up his wrists for her to admire.

"This is all brilliant! Thank you."

He pointed toward the packages on the desk. "Those are yours." On top was the package containing the replica multi-tool Miss Clay had reproduced from her original designs from Blair's commission. Nadia couldn't help but spend a few moments squeeing over the multi-tool (and lighting the blow torch a few times) before getting to the second package, which had her sitting there speechless.

Finally, she just kind of held the necklace out to Walter wordlessly to ask him to put it on her.

Walter was delighted by Nadia's reaction to the multi-tool, which was everything he'd hoped for.

He took the necklace and motioned her to turn around to let him put it around her neck and fasten the clasp. "I take it that's a positive reaction?"

"It's beautiful," she finally managed. "Thank you, so much."
