Galactica Point, just after sundown
Jan. 24th, 2006 07:07 pmNadia felt like an idiot. For all her supposed street-smarts from Buenos Aires, she'd managed to miscalculate the time of the sunset and how long it would take her to get back to the school after wandering around the town. She'd only made it as far as Galactica Point on the beach, and now it was nearing full dark.
In a town that had no law enforcement.
Now, Nadia had never really been on good speaking terms with the police. They generally disapproved of teenaged runaway streetrats who shoplifted and stole cars to get by. But that didn't stop her from knowing they were out there for a reason and that not having them at all was generally a really bad idea, no matter what her anarchist friends from back home would have said.
She quickly tried to figure out which would be closer, the school, or Caritas. The karaoke bar was the only place in town she knew well enough to feel safe in, other than the dorms. She wasted precious seconds making her decision before she set out for the bar.
While her body was yelling at her to run, dammit! she carefully kept up a casual, unhurried stride. She kept her shoulders slumped down, and pulled the hood of her black sweatshirt over her head to hide her distinctive hair. She clutched her backpack tightly in one hand, prepared to swing the heavy load at anything that threatened her. Long years of experience walking around dangerous areas at night had taught her to stay as inconspicous as possible, which definitely eliminated running.
She couldn't quite help humming that song softly under her breath, though. Damned movies. . . .
[ooc: yep, Nadia's a damned fool . . . and her mun is totally bored. Open for interaction, preferably of the non-fatal kind. You can rough her up, just don't kill her.]

Then she gave a weak smile, realizing she was being just a tad mean.

"Please let me walk with you two there. It's... it is not a good night to be out with less than a small army, it seems."

"Yes, Pip is a friend of mine. He's a good guy. No offense, but are you sure it is a good idea to walk back alone?" Granted, Walter had intended to do it, but he was Walter...

"Before I ran into you two, I most definitely was not going to walk around alone after dark hoping for trouble." Not that Walter is blatantly lying with the last statement or anything...
