Room 507, Friday around lunchtime [NFB]

Nadia was, once again, crashed out on a couch in front of a television. This time, she was working based on the idea that she had no classes today, and if she was going to go to New York, she really ought to be resting her ankle.

Watching Lily's TV made her feel somewhat less social than when she was out in the lounge, but since she was also pretending to pack and write in her journal, it seemed like it might be a good idea to stay in the room.

Molly emerged from her room for the second time that day - the time wearing clothes that weren't her PJs - and more awake than she'd been in Math class.

Seeing that Nadia's door was open, she stopped and knocked on the door frame. "Hey, Nadia. How is the ankle today?"

Nadia grinned up at Molly. "It's doing better, thank god. I'm going to be doing a lot of walking this weekend."

Molly entered the room and sat down on the armrest of the couch, careful to not disturb Nadia's foot. "What are you doing this weekend?" she asked curiously.

Nadia sat up a bit to give Molly more room to sit. "The green guy at Caritas invited me to go to New York!" she's obviously super excited at the idea.

Molly made herself more comfortable. "Wow, really? How come?"

Nadia blinked. "You know? I don't know." she shrugged. "He seems to like me, though. I go there almost every night."

Her attention is half-focused on the TV, and she swings her head towards it as she spots something. "Oh my god, that's awesome."

On the television, thousands upon thousands of bouncy balls are pouring through San Francisco.

Molly looked at the TV in awe. "Cooooool. That must have been so much fun to do." She grinned. "And I'll bet it must have been some shock to the people living in some of those houses."

Nadia's smile turned just a little bit evil mischievous. "We should totally do that here." She started nodding. "On the stairs. It would look amazing, and we could get revenge on the second floor."

Molly's eyes lit up. "Oh my gosh, yes! That would be so awesome!" She giggled. "They are pretty superior about their floor, aren't they? But we have the high ground!" She put a fist up in the air triumphantly.

Then, she dropped it back into her lap and deflated just a little. "But where would we get enough of the bouncy balls to pull it off? I doubt the stores in town would have enough for us to make it as cool as we would want it to be."

Nadia shook her head, still grinning. "I'm going to New York. If I'm careful with money, I can go get a whole bunch there and we could do it next week!" her grin faded slightly. "How many do you think we'll need?"

At he mention of getting the balls in New York, Molly pointed straight at Nadia. "You are brilliant!"

Then she put her hand to her chin in thought. "Hmmm, probably a couple hundred at least. I can chip in some money too for such a worthwhile cause." She grinned mischievously. "Maybe my roommate, Pippi, would also. She loves making trouble. Maybe other people on the floor would help too." She tilted her head in thought. "How many people even live on this floor? It can't be that many."

Nadia thought about that. "Well, I know there's at least four, counting Lily, and if we count Pippi's pets, that's six. Are there any others?" She was really starting to get excited. This was going to be so much fun.

"Well, I know two guys live across the hall from me and Pippi, so that makes six humans and two animals so far. We should check the student directory. Do you have one handy?" Molly hopped up off the couch, ready to find it.

Nadia had to think for a moment. "I think Lily keeps one over by the phone." She gestured toward the kitchenette. "We should call people, maybe? See if they want to help?"

Molly got the directory and began looking through it. "I think we should, yes. They can chip in and we can make it a floor bonding experience, or something, if there really are that few of us."

She flipped through the directory quickly. "Yep, six of us on this floor, but wow, we don't have the lowest number. There are only two guys up on six. Weird."

Nadia glanced up at the ceiling. "Only two? Wow. Maybe the fifth and sixth floors should combine forces then." She smirked. "We'll take over the whole dorm!"

Molly laughed. "That would be fun! So, how should we do this? We can call people and tell them to come here to contribute money to the bouncy ball fund before you leave for New York? When do you leave, by the way?"

"This afternoon," Nadia shook her head. That wasn't much time. "We should call them, and ask them to contribute, and then if we don't get a hold of everybody now, maybe they can pay us back later? I don't know."

"We'd better get on it then!" Molly said as she looked through the directory again. "How about, we each talk to our own roommates, you call the guys next door and I'll call the ones upstairs?" She showed Nadia the entries for Togusa and Pip. "And we tell them to come here with the money before the end of classes today or just call if they want to contribute, but can't chip in until later. How does that sound?"

Nadia nodded. "Like a plan. Let's get to work." she levered herself up to go knock on Lily's door and see if she was in.

Lily had been studying but answered the knock almost immediately. She smiled at her roommate. "Hullo, Nadia - what's up?"

Nadia grinned back. "Molly and I are planning a prank, only we're looking to see if we can get the whole fifth floor in on it. We're going to dump a whole bunch of bouncy balls down the stairs. Show the second floor that they don't rule the dorms. You want in?"

Lily considers. She doesn't really want detention, but showing up the second floor might be fun. "It sounds like fun, but, well, you do realize we'll probably get in trouble for it, right?"

Nadia thought about that. "I'm used to being in trouble. If we get caught, I'm the one who thought of it, I'm going to be the one buying the balls, and I'm willing to be the one actually dumping them down the stairs. I'll take full responsibility."

"Oh, I'm not afraid to take my share of the responsibility, I just wanted to make sure you were thinking it through," she assured with a smile. "What can I do to help?"

Nadia grinned. "Right now, we're mostly looking for financing. I'm headed to New York this weekend, so I can buy the balls there. If you could donate a few dollars, that'd be great. And any other ideas you might have would be welcome, too." she thought for a moment. "We might be starting a prank war, here, so we'd better stock up on ideas."

"Financing, right." Lily summoned a little bag from somewhere in the room and fished out a handful of silver coins with a few gold pieces as well. "This is all I've got available, I'm afraid - it's wizarding money, but the back in town can exchange it..."

Nadia nodded. "That's fine, perfect even. I'll make sure to stop by there on my way to Caritas." She smiled. "This going to be great. Thanks!"

"Super!" Molly was practically bouncing. "I'll go make my phone calls and then drop off some money before I head down to the library."

Molly dashed out and then came back about ten minutes later. When she saw Nadia talking to Lily, she just waved and set the money down on the arm of the couch. She left again quickly.

Pippi knocks on the door to Nadia's room.

"Hello fellow red head, I hear from Molly that there are shenanigans afoot and I'll be darned if I'm not a part of them. Wadda ya need?"

Nadia grinned up at Pippi. This was going to be awesome. "Funds, mostly. I'm going to be buying a whole bunch of different kinds of bouncy balls while I'm in New York this weekend, and next week we'll launch them down the stairs." she thinks for a moment. "Maybe we should write 'fifth floor rules' on them or something? do you have any permanent markers?"

Pippi gave that some thought.

"I don't think I have permanent markers, but I think you can have a message printed on the balls custom. My Aunty Frita used to say that you could have anybody do anything quickly if you paid them enough. My funds are actually kinda limited, I didn't bring that much with me to school; but this is obviously a good cause... Will this do?"

She reaches into her pocket and pulls out (see picture).

"Great!" said Pippi completely oblivious to the buggy eyed look thing.

"Pip lives across from Molly and me, he's always up for mischief. I'll bend his ear about this. Going to New York sounds like fun! Are you visiting friends?"

Nadia shook her head. "I called Pip already, he's in. And the green guy from Caritas invited me to join his work trip. I think he might be thinking of offering me a job, or something."

"Oh! Lorne, I like him. He's nice." She pulls a pocket watch out and checks it.

"Okay, I have to get to Gardening Class. Thanks for letting me in on this, I think it's going to be very impressive."

She jumps up and heads for the door.

"See you later! Have fun in New York and tell Lorne I said 'Hi'!"
