The stairs, Saturday morning

Nadia ran down the hall way into the stair well, not even hesitating before grabbing hold of the railing at the edge of the landing and vaulting over like she'd seen the boys do on the website. She flew through the air and landed on both feet on the next landing down before falling over and rolling because that's what the boys on the computer had done next and managing to roll right into the wall.

Then she lay there giggling for a little while.

"Phoebeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" she shouted. "Try it! It's fun!"

Phoebe took off running and did the exact same thing. She vaulted over the railing and sailed *crash* into the wall.

She giggled and agreed.

"Nadiaaaaaaa!!!!!"

She ran back up the stairs to do it again.

Nadia chased after her. But she was trying to run on the stair's railing.

See? She'd told Pippi she could tightrope walk . . . as long as tightrope walking included holding on with your hands and then falling over sideways after only a few steps.

Never one to be discouraged, Nadia soon bounced back up and tried again.

Phoebe liked this new idea and started jumping up on the railings to walk along them. When she kept slipping off, she took off her sneakers and walked along barefoot.

Oh, this worked!!!

Of course, it didn't stop her from falling a lot and giggling.

However, just like Nadia, she bounced up and did it again.

Hearing the noise at the end of the hall, curious Kiki came to check it out.

"Pheebs?" Kiki called, her pint-sized voice pitched higher than usual. Of course, the said Pheebs was on the next landing down. And the fastest way to get there?

Sliding down the railing. Kiki hoisted herself up, swung a leg over, and proceeded to do just exactly that.

Phoebe waved at Kiki before flipping down onto the landing and then leaping over the side of the stairs like she had seen Nadia do.

Giggling, Kiki turned around and began sliding down the bannister backwards.

Phoebe giggled and started walking UP the railing.

Continuing his search of public areas for students who should have been in detention, The Tick heard shouting and giggling coming from the stairs. He investigated and saw more wee little people. "Hello there, children! Do you mind if I ask what you're doing?"

Phoebe bounced up and gave a bright smile.

"Hi Mr. The Tick! We're practicing for a new game we discovered. Wanna play?"

"Err, no thank you," Tick said, wondering how this young girl knew him. Word gets around when you're a superhero, he guessed. "I'm actually on something of a mission at the moment. I'm looking for students who skipped detention this morning. You wouldn't happen to know where any of these people (http://bugofjustice.livejournal.com/41260.html) are, would you?"

Phoebe looked disappointed that he didn't want to play with them. Then she looked confused.

"Mr. The Tick? Why are they supposed to be going to a detention? Is it like a party?"

"Err, no. This is a list of students that the office gave me. They have somehow earned punishment this week," Tick said.

Ooooh... he said the P word! Ph.oebe stuck her tongue out and jumped back up on the railing

Phoebe's eyes widened and she shook her head. Her friend was on that list and there was no way she was gonna be a tattletale, and she wasn't gonna tell him where to find her sister, either.

"Nuh uh, Mr. The Tick, but if I see anyone on yur important list I'll tell them you're looking for them.""

Nadia's eyes widened as she peered at the list. "Oh, no, I don't know any of those people. . . ."

Nine year old Nadia is not the best liar in the world. . . . but she's working on it.
