The roof, Monday night [NFB]

Nadia led Veronica out onto the roof, holding a box of brownies in one hand. She headed over to the edge of the roof around where she and Walter had been sitting the night before. Once they were seated, she offered Veronica a brownie.

"Okay, what's up?"

"Logan and I broke up," Veronica said bluntly. After Saturday she realized she didn't have to beat around the bush with Nadia or put on a happy face.

She gratefully took the brownie since they had left the party before the cake was cut and popped a piece in her mouth.

"Wow." Nadia leaned her elbows on her knees. "I guess this was the week for that. What happened?"

"I told him the truth about everything that's happened over the last couple of weeks," she said. "He was mad that I kept secrets and then we started fighting about old issues."

Veronica broke off another chunk of brownie. There wasn't much in life that wasn't made better with chocolate and these were really good.

Nadia suddenly realized that in her vaguely stoned state, she'd forgotten to warn Veronica what was actually in the brownies. She opened her mouth to say, but then shrugged it off. She'd let her finish what she needed to say, first.

"That sucks. I'm sorry."

Veronica chewed and swallowed another piece of brownie before responding.

"I wish everyone would quit apologizing to me," Veronica said. "It's my own damn fault. I broke my promise."

"Okay, then, I'm not sorry. But it still sucks."

"Yeah it does," Veronica agreed. "But I have no one to blame but myself."

She broke off another piece of brownie, but stopped just before putting it in her mouth.

"And Aaron Echolls," she added.

"So. Logan is entirely blame-free." Nadia's tone is as neutral as she can make it. Which means it's only a little bit sarcastic.

"Well, no," Veronica admitted. "But he wouldn't have reacted the way he did if all that other stuff wouldn't have happened. We were doing good before that."

The brownie? Gone.

"Got any more brownies?" she asked. "That was really good."

"Yeah, I've got some." Nadia picked up the box, but didn't offer it immediately. "These are Lucas' special brownies, by the way. Just wanted to make sure you knew that."

"Special brownies?"

"Yeah. Lot's of 'sugar'?" Nadia actually performed airquotes. She was hoping she wouldn't have to say it flat out.

It took Veronica a minute because she was already starting to feel the effects of the brownie's secret ingredient.

When she did figure it out, her jaw dropped and her eyes went wide. "Oh."

She had a brief flashback to the night of Shelley's party, then realized that she was in Fandom and no one here would hurt her the way the 09ers did.

"What the hell?" she said, reaching for another brownie.

Nadia smiled slightly. "Don't worry about it. I've been eating them all day. Was up here last night with Walter, too. I'll keep an eye on you."

"I trust you," Veronica said with a smile of her own as she took another brownie and broke off a bite.

Nadia grinned. "Good. We wouldn't be a very good team if you didn't."

Veronica was starting to feel a little silly. "If we're a team, we should have a name," she said solemnly. "And team colors. And a mascot."

"Well, I think Moral should be our mascot. I don't know about names or colors, yet, though."

See? Pot fixes EVERYTHING. She got dancing out of Walter, felt better after talking to Victor, and now Veronica was being silly.

"Oh yeah!" Veronica said. "Moral would be a good mascot. 'Cept we have to make him not go after Bel anymore cause we like Bel now."

She paused for another bite of brownie.

"And we can be the anti-emo squad! Stomping out emo with glitter and love!"

"And tea!"

And pot! And tea made from pot!

"And baked goods, of course." Nadia said, taking another brownie for herself. "Our colors must reflect our anti-emo. No blue, no dark colors. Pink."

"Yes! Pink is good. And maybe gold for the glitter. Or silver! Pink and silver look pretty together."

Veronica ate some more of her brownie. She was feeling really mellow.

"And baked goods are good. I wonder if I could get a recipe for these."

"I can ask Lucas, but his friend Eddie makes them and sends them to him. Maybe he can ask Eddie for us."

Eddie, whoever and wherever he was, had Nadia's eternal gratitude.

Veronica wrinkled her nose. "Your boss is kinda creepy," she said. "Then again, my boss is green. But he's not creepy, he's nice. Your boss was kinda cute though, in a creepy sorta way."

"Creepy?" Nadia blinked. "Oh! No, I talked to him. He doesn't actually know anything really about Rambaldi at all. Someone called him and mentioned the name, and he was worried about me so he looked it up."

She probably should have told Veronica that earlier. But there had just been so much else to tell her.

"Oh good," Veronica said. "That means he's not creepy, he's just cute. Hm, maybe I could ask him to prom."
