Round the town, Thursday afternoon

After stopping in at All and Sundries for some supplies, Nadia took the time to wander about the town for a bit. It was a surprisingly nice day for a walk.

She paused briefly as she passed the clinic, wondering if she should go in and say "hi" to Angel, since she hadn't gotten him anything for the get-well package. She didn't know the guy that well, though, and she didn't want to disturb him.

Indecision. It's a killer.

Bridge is outside, taking a break to get some fresh air, when he spots Nadia pause outside the clinic.

"Nadia! Just the person we need!"

Nadia blinked and glanced around, as though there might be some other "Nadia" on the street behind her. "I am?"

"Yes!" Bridge grinned. "We're having a bit of a blood drive in the clinic. We need blood donations from people who qualify as Chosen Ones. And I'm pretty sure you fit the bill."

That? Was a little bit more sudden, confusing information than Nadia had been prepared to hear.

"Chosen--? Blood drive? What?" She shook her head. "Chosen for what, exactly?"

"To help out Angel, dude. We need people who have a certain, um, blood type? And do you remember when I scanned everyone's auras back when that whole weird powers thing was happening? I saw something when I looked at yours, and it turns out that you have the same, um... thing that we're looking for."

Nadia blinked. "Okay, so I can help Angel?"

Then something clicked. "Oh no, you mean give blood? With needles and bleeding and--I can't do that." She took a few steps back, but didn't actually flee. . . .

Since there was a little voice in her head that sounded almost exactly like her mun that was saying help Angel, dumbass!

"Sure you can!" Bridge said reassuringly. "It won't take long, and Janet's really nice, and we're pretty sure it's the only thing that's gonna help Angel."

Nadia stared at Bridge for a long moment, her face pale. "You-you really think--" she shook her head and hugged herself. "That's ridiculous. I'm not anything special. There's got to be a mistake."

"I don't think so, I *know* so." Bridge says. "Please, Nadia? We could really, really use your help."

"I-I--" Nadia hugged herself tighter for a second, then swallowed. "How do you know?"

"I saw something, in your aura, back when I was trying to figure out where all those weird powers were coming from. It's the same thing that everyone else who's donated so far has."

Nadia closed her eyes and sighed. "Cumpleaños maldecido feliz a mí." She opened her eyes again, a look of resignation on her face. "How much do they need?"

"Just a pint." Bridge says.

Nadia nodded and let out another sigh. "I'll go find Janet, then."

"*Thank* you," Bridge says earnestly. "I know it's probably not the easiest thing ever for you to do, but I really appreciate it."

Nadia smiled slightly. "I'm not gonna let someone die if I can help." She swallowed one more time and headed into the clinic.
